I was sceptical, but these really do look and feel like normal good-quality underwear. No bulk, no lines under leggings or a dress, and nothing shows on the washing line. I honestly forget I'm wearing special underwear until I need it. That is exactly what I wanted.Elize, 54 — Pretoria
The High-Waist Leakproof Brief
Washable leakproof underwear with a slim 4-layer absorbent core — that looks, feels and washes like completely normal underwear. A sneeze, a laugh, a jump: caught, soaked up, locked away. Tested in our own hands: dry to the touch at 12ml, still sealed at 40ml. Doubles as period underwear on moderate days.
- Looks, feels and washes like normal underwear — because it is
- Slim 4-layer absorbent core: dry to the touch in seconds
- Silent — no crinkle, no bulk, no visible line under clothes
- Machine washable 100+ times at 30°C, straight in with the laundry
- Plain packaging, and we help you get the size right before you order

What makes this different
Most people reach for a pad or a liner — something built for a different job, sitting loose inside underwear that was never designed for it. This is the opposite: a normal high-waist brief with the protection built into the garment itself.
Four thin layers sit in the gusset. The top layer pulls moisture off your skin in seconds, the core soaks it up and holds it, and a leakproof barrier makes sure nothing reaches your clothes.
Fabric & construction
- Outer fabric: bamboo viscose with spandex — soft, breathable and stretchy enough to move with you.
- Layer 1: dry-touch top sheet that wicks moisture away from the skin.
- Layer 2: the absorbent layer — soaks the moment up fast and spreads it so it never pools.
- Layer 3: holds it in place under pressure, sitting or moving.
- Layer 4: a silent leakproof barrier — nothing reaches your clothes.
We publish an absorbency figure only once we have tested our own product with a measuring jug on camera. Until then, the layers are the honest answer.
Washing & lifespan
Machine wash at 30°C with your normal laundry. No fabric softener, no tumble dryer — those two habits are what destroy absorbent underwear. Hang dry overnight, ready by morning. Built for 100+ washes. Full details on our Care Guide.
Shipping, sizing & returns
Every order ships in a plain, unbranded box — the courier learns nothing. We deliver within South Africa: 2–5 working days to main centres, 3–7 to outlying areas.
Sizes S to XL on an honest centimetre chart, measured at the waist — the waistband is what decides the fit. Not sure? Use or message us on WhatsApp before you order. Please do check first: underwear is a hygiene product, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges once an order has been delivered. If your order arrives faulty or incorrect we replace it or refund you in full and cover the shipping both ways. Full terms on Returns & Refunds.
Holding back the laugh is not a life.
The liner every morning, "just in case". Checking the chair before standing up. Crossing your legs when the story gets funny.
Roughly 1 in 3 women experiences bladder leaks — after pregnancy, after menopause, from a sneeze or a laugh or a jump. And the average woman waits about seven years before telling even her doctor.
Calm Wear was built so you stop thinking about it entirely. That's the whole idea — and the name.

We tested our own underwear. On camera.
Measured water, onto the one spot where a leak actually happens: 12ml — dry to the touch. 22ml — locked in. 40ml — damp inside, still sealed. Then 150ml poured across the pad with a white tissue underneath, pressed hard with both hands. The tissue came out dry.
Disposable pads are a subscription you never agreed to.

What women say — in their own words.
Dry after a proper sneeze. No bulk. Looks like normal underwear. That's all I needed.Lerato, 42 — Midrand
I've had light leaks for years after my second baby. Pads always shifted or made noise. These stayed put the whole day. I jumped, laughed, carried shopping bags, and still felt completely dry. The top layer really does pull the wet away from your skin. I'm impressedAnel, 38 — Stellenbosch

How to wash
Calm Wear is 100% reusable and machine washable, just like your normal underwear.
Wash before first wear
New fabric carries a light factory finish. One wash removes it — absorbency reaches full strength after 2–3 washes.
Wash at 30°C
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, in with your normal laundry. Never hot — heat damages the absorbent layers.
No fabric softener
Softener coats the fibres and stops the core absorbing. Skip it every time — and no bleach.
Dry inside out
Turn inside out and air dry. Hang or lay flat — overnight is enough, ready by morning.
Avoid
Tumble dryers, high heat, bleach and ironing. Those are what shorten the life of the core.

Faulty or wrong? We fix it at our cost.
Calm Wear is intimate apparel, worn against the skin. For hygiene reasons — the same standard underwear retailers apply everywhere — we cannot accept returns or exchanges once an order has been delivered. Here is what we do promise: if your order arrives with a manufacturing fault or you receive the wrong item, we replace it — and we cover the shipping both ways. Before you order, message us on WhatsApp with your measurement.
Will people see it under my clothes?
No — and this is the fear we designed against first. The core is slim and completely silent. Under leggings, a church dress, gym shorts or your everyday jeans it reads as normal underwear, because that is exactly what it is.
Will it really hold when I sneeze, laugh or exercise?
Yes — and we filmed the proof rather than asking you to trust us. Using a syringe, on the spot where a leak actually happens: 12ml stays dry to the touch, 22ml is locked in, and at 40ml it is damp inside but still sealed. Most everyday leaks are 1–5ml, so that covers a full day of sneezes, laughs and gym for most women. If you soak through heavy protection every day, please speak to your doctor first — this is not the right product for you.
Will I feel wet?
Through small everyday leaks, no — the top layer pulls moisture off your skin and the surface stays dry to the touch up to about 12ml. After a bigger leak you may feel some dampness inside, and that is the honest answer. What never happens is anything reaching your clothes: in our stress test we poured 150ml across the pad, pressed hard with both hands, and the white tissue underneath came out dry.
What about smell? Be honest.
Liquid is pulled off your skin in seconds and held inside the core, away from the air, which is where odour normally starts. Rinse after wear, wash at 30°C, and they come out fresh every time.
Is it hygienic to wash and wear again?
Yes — it works on the same principle as the period underwear millions of women wear every day. A normal 30°C machine wash is all it needs. That is also why we recommend the 3-pack — so there is always a fresh pair while one dries.
Will the bag say what is inside?
Never. No pharmacy till, no trolley moment, no labels. Every order ships in a plain bag with only a courier label. Tracked delivery across South Africa: 2–5 working days to main centres, 3–7 to outlying areas.
I have been burned by sizing before. How do I get it right?
Our chart is in centimetres and built from real fittings — and it goes by your waist, because on a high-waist brief the waistband is what decides the fit. Measure around your middle just below your belly button — where a belt normally sits — or tap Find my size and answer two quick questions instead. We carry S (68–77cm), M (78–92cm), L (93–100cm) and XL (101–108cm) — the ranges don't overlap, so your measurement lands on exactly one size, and a snug band seals better than a loose one. Please check before you order: underwear is a hygiene product, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges once an order has been delivered. Message us on WhatsApp with your measurement and we will confirm your size.
Can I wear these for my period too?
Yes. The absorbent core and sealed barrier are the same construction period underwear uses. On moderate flow days one pair handles the day; on your heaviest days wear it as backup with your usual protection until you know your own flow.
